Yes, The Derry Girls
Our Derry Girls tour was at 9:00. We took a bus into town, and waited a few minutes for the Caffè Nero to open in the Richmond Centre. After that we met Tony our tour guide. He brought us around the city where different Derry Girls filming took place. It was quite fun seeing the places and recognizing them as we went along. We passed Hidden City Café which is owned by Justyn McNicholl, the priest that was in the episode of Claire's father's funeral. Nice man.
After our tour we went into the Tower Museum where there is a Derry Girl exhibit. It was OK. Found out that the man who was Jenny Joyce's dad is Lisa McGee's husband. Walked around and saw the history of Derry which was good.
It was getting onto lunch time so we headed back to the Hidden City Café. The food was good. And Tony popped in for a tea! We left and headed to the Craft Village to look and roam. Some nice small local shops.
We walked over to St Augestines but it was closed. The Yellow Yard was now open, where the Derry Girls tried to get the Fat Boy Slim tickets. It is a big consignment shop. Since we were close, we went to the Seige Museum which told about the Apprentice boys and their role in the Seige of the 1600s.
Next we wanted to see St Columbs Cathedral, but we could not find the entrance. A man (John) was sitting in a car so we asked him. The church is closed since it is now after tourist season, but since we had come all the way from Boston, he took us on a private tour! There is an American Flag in a drawer that was left by our Marines when they left Derry in 1945. Tony had told us earlier. And the lady who wrote All Things Bright and Beautiful wrote it at that church.
We have seen and done enough in Derry, so we decided to head back to the Snug. I stopped at The Walled City Slice for a slice of pizza for supper. Gwyn just wanted cereal so we headed to a bus stop to take us back to the Snug. More Derry Girls, a shower, and bed.
